a LIFELONG passion for aviation

My passion for aviation began in the mid-60’s when my dad bought a Cessna 170B, then got his pilot’s license. We lived in northeast Jackson at the time so keeping the plane at the Madison Airport was the logical choice.

Pilot or aviator?

After 35 years and over 11,000 hours of flying fixed-wing, I added a Commercial Rotorcraft rating to my ATP license. I was fortunate to do most of my primary flight training in the MASH-type Bell 47G models. Flying helicopters has been a rewarding, enjoyable and gratifying experience.

ENERGY MANAGEMENT

Much of mechanics of flying aircraft involves different aspects of energy management. I’ve particularly enjoyed honing those and other basic airmanship skills with my experiences flying gliders over the years.
